Hungarian-Style Cherry Cake (Meggyes Piskóta)
Ingredients
3 eggs
150 g sugar
120 ml milk
100 ml vegetable oil
200 g all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
300–350 g pitted sour cherries (or sweet cherries)
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the milk and oil, mixing well.
Sift together the flour and baking powder, then fold them into the wet mixture.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
Spread the cherries evenly over the top; they will sink slightly into the batter.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool completely and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
