ðŸ‡ðŸ‡º Hungarian-Style Chicken Schnitzel with Paprika Tomato Noodles
Ingredients
For the chicken:
2 chicken breasts
½ cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
Salt and black pepper
2 tbsp vegetable oil
½ cup shredded mozzarella or mild cheese
For the noodles:
250 g noodles or spaghetti
1 tbsp butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
200 g tomato passata or crushed tomatoes
½ tsp salt
Black pepper, to taste
2 tbsp sour cream
Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
Prepare the chicken: Flatten the chicken breasts slightly. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Coat each piece in flour, then beaten egg, and finally breadcrumbs.
Heat the oil in a skillet and fry the chicken over medium heat until golden brown and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes per side.
Place the chicken on a baking tray, top with shredded cheese, and bake at 200°C (400°F) for 5–7 minutes, until the cheese melts.
Make the noodles: Cook the noodles according to the package directions and drain.
Melt the butter in a pan. Add the onion and cook until soft. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
Remove the pan briefly from the heat and stir in the Hungarian paprika. Add the tomatoes, salt, and pepper, then simmer for about 8–10 minutes.
Stir in the sour cream, then add the cooked noodles and toss until well coated.
Serve the creamy paprika noodles with the crispy cheesy chicken. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Tip: Use sweet Hungarian paprika for the classic Hungarian flavor and avoid cooking the paprika over very hig
h heat, as it can become bitter.
